Practical Method Training on Recyclability at PTS
First Insights into the use of the Thickener

Method - Part I Cepi V3

On 7 and 8 October 2026, PTS will host an English-language method training course in Heidenau focusing on the recyclability testing of fibre-based packaging. Participants will work through the individual steps of the laboratory method Part I Cepi V3 – from sample preparation and disintegration to filtrate and reject analysis, sheet formation and macrostickies assessment.

The two-day training is aimed at engineers and technical staff from paper-, board- and tissue-producing or converting companies. It is also intended for professionals and managers working in quality control, product development, business development, marketing and legal affairs who are involved in recovered paper, sustainability or related fields.

The newly developed FRANK-PTI  S40170 thickener plays a key role in the practical sessions. Installed as a downstream filtration stage of the Somerville, it is used both to concentrate the filtrate and to collect the remaining process water. Concentrating the filtrate significantly improves sampling reproducibility and produces more representative specimens, providing a more reliable basis for subsequent sheet formation and further analysis.
