New measuring instruments for the Pulp and Paper Institute SA in Bulgaria: Efficient solutions for paper and packaging testing
At the end of last year, we successfully installed two state-of-the-art measuring devices at our long-standing partner, the Pulp and Paper Institute SA (PPI) in Bulgaria. As an accredited laboratory for paper, board, and pulp, the PPI, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Krasimir Savov, is one of the leading institutions in Eastern Europe.
The PPI supports major clients, including IKEA, in optimizing and improving their packaging solutions. To expand its testing portfolio, the institute has installed an S-Tester and a ModularLine PPS (Parker Print Surf) – two devices that set new benchmarks in precision and efficiency.
The FRANK-PTI S-Tester offers a more efficient and cost-effective alternative to the traditional Concora Medium Test (CMT). With the S-Tester, paper manufacturers can:
Thanks to its fully automated processes, the S-Tester delivers highly precise results without requiring additional individual devices.
The PPS Roughness Tester uses the Parker Print Surf method to measure the surface roughness of coated and calendered paper. Featuring a high-precision measurement head and dual sensors, the device ensures:
Surface roughness is a critical factor influencing printability, print quality, adhesion properties, and many other essential aspects of modern packaging solutions.
By expanding its testing spectrum, the PPI remains one of the most advanced and well-equipped laboratories in Europe. We are proud to contribute to the continuous development of the industry.
We sincerely thank the PPI for its trust and look forward to learning more about the applications and advantages of the new devices in action.
